Samuel "Big Sam" Sabolovich

Sabolovich, Samuel “Big Sam”, age 70, June 7, 2020. Beloved husband of Marlene for 47 years. Dear brother of Betty (the late George) Sklar, Cathy (the late Tony) Burke and the late Elsie (the late John) Sarnecky. Sam is loved and missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. He retired from the Detroit Police Department after 25 years of service. Sam loved to travel and he and Marlene traveled the country all while eating at various different restaurants along the way. He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, especially when he could barbeque. He was a part of the police band, playing the saxophone and keyboard. In his spare time, you could find Sam fishing or bow hunting. You could always count on him for a good laugh, but above all, his pride and passion was being a police officer. Visitation will take place at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home in Sterling Heights with a Funeral Mass at St. Blase Catholic Church. Due to current restrictions on funeral services, Sam’s family will be personally contacting friends and family regarding days and times for services. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaumont Royal Oak Cardiology Center.
