Pierina Frabotta

Pierina Frabotta, age 89, July 18, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Vincent. Dear mother of the late Mary (Ron) Kolis, Tony (Sheryl), Lucy (Lenny) Rancilio and Frank (Karen). Proud Nonna of Rachel Rancilio, Julie (Chris) Herbst, John Kolis, Leonard (Dani) Rancilio, Bianca (Rob) Cords, Vince (Amanda) Frabotta, Annette (Donnie) Puggini, Annie Rancilio Loughead, Anthony (Sara) Frabotta, Michael (Robin) Rancilio, Jennifer Kolis, Madeleine (Andrew) Bazinski, Judy (Todd) Pugh and Brian (Marie) Lally. Cherished Great-Nonna of 24 great-grandchildren.

Pierina was born October 16, 1931 in Pofi, Italy to Giovanni Battista and Annunziata Frabotta (nee Pulciani). She was predeceased by her siblings Angelina Frabotta and Peter (Theresa) Frabotta, and is survived by her dear brother Antonino (Antoinette) Frabotta. She and Vincent were married in Pofi in 1948 and they raised their family in Detroit. Pierina has numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews in the U.S., Italy and Canada, as well as many dear friends at Rose Senior Living. She knew all of her children’s and grandchildren’s friends and they all called her “Nonna” too!

Pierina loved to entertain for her family and friends, and she made incredible Italian food. She loved her dog “Jazzy,” gardening, “Double Down Slot Machine” on her iPad, shopping, Facebook, white wine, Bocce, Pinochle, bowling and politics. She was the Matriarch of her extended family and she will be greatly missed.

Pierina was a member of the San Francesco Orphan’s Club, the San Francesco Bowling League and she was an active supporter of many local charities.

Visitation Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary at the Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Funeral Mass, Thursday, July 22, 2021, Instate at 9:30 AM until time of Mass at 10:00 AM at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 S. Nunneley Rd, Clinton Twp. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to San Francesco Catholic Church or PIME Missionaries, 17330 Quincy St., Detroit, MI 48221.
