Tribute

Patricia R. Calcaterra, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis C. Jr. for 54 years, and a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

Born into a loving family, Patricia's life was enriched by her siblings, though she was preceded in death by Ellen, Bertie, Alice, Sonny, and Eddie. She is survived by her dear sister Lorna (the late Joseph) Nardone and brother John (Elaine) Keillor.

On September 28, 1957, Patricia exchanged vows with her beloved Louis at St. Catherine's in Detroit. Their union was filled with love, laughter, and countless shared adventures, including memorable trips to destinations like Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Their bond was strengthened through shared interests, from playing Euchre and bowling to savoring delicious meals together. They were also a proud member of the Hazelridge Gang.

Patricia's culinary skills were legendary among family and friends. Renowned for her delectable cannoli and ravioli, she delighted in preparing meals that brought joy to those she loved. Her talent extended beyond the kitchen; she was a skilled seamstress who could create anything she set her mind to.

Above all, Patricia found her greatest joy in her roles as a mother and grandmother. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her children, Cheryl (Graff) Kennelly, Louis C. III (Jan), and Tina Marie (Mark) Holowicki, and her grandchildren. Known affectionately as "Giggia," she showered Jennifer (Kendra), Louis IV (Kerry), Jordan, Mark Jr., and step-grandchildren Kim and Eric with love and affection. She also cherished her role as step-great-grandmother to Adam, Rebecca, Ryan, Noah, Carly, and Landen.

Throughout her life, Patricia was deeply involved in her children's education, serving as a room mother and assistant librarian during their elementary school years. Her commitment to family and community was unwavering. When Patricia was able to find a moment to relax, the Detroit Tiger’s #1 fan could be found watching the ballgame.

The family of extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at American House Lakeshore for their exceptional love and care shown to their beloved mother during her time there. Their compassion and dedication provided comfort and support to Patricia, enriching her life with warmth and kindness. The family is deeply thankful for the attentive and professional care provided by the staff, which eased their mother's journey and brought solace to their hearts.
