Monica F. Kapso

Monica F. Kapso, age 62, died peacefully on June 8, 2022 with her beloved husband James and sister Heidi at her side.  Monica was born in Mt. Clemens Michigan February 9, 1960 the sixth child of the late  Marion and Irene Lewandowski.  Monica is survived by her beloved husband and best friend James, treasured sisters Karen Glen, Heidi Muir, Hope Pawlus (the late Arthur), Grace Cook (the late Glenn), brother Raymond and sister in laws Dr. Mary Lynn (late Michael) Kapso-Sundock and Jennifer Lewandowski.  Monica was predeceased by her brothers Hadrian Lewandowski and Rex Lewandowski. Treasured aunt of Avionda Koziarski, Bernadette Hayes, Adam Pawlus, Felice Cook, Isaac Lewandowski, and Malachi Lewandowski. Dear friend to Judy Noll.

Monica met the love of her life, James, on a blind date to Travis's Diner in 1977. They married on June 5, 1982 and spent many wonderful years together as best friends and partners. In their younger years, Monica would attend James's baseball games and they would visit Greektown.  Monica and James enjoyed dining out, trips to Frankenmuth, visiting the malls and spending quality time with family and friends.

Monica is remembered fondly by family and friends for her grace, generosity and positive outlook. Monica was a woman of exemplary character who believed in working hard and never giving up. Monica was a care giver and friend to many.  She opened heart and home to friends and family hosting many family get togethers and provided a space where all could spend time with each other and feel welcome.

Monica was a blessing to all who knew her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Bagnasco and Calcaterra Funeral Home at 25800 Harper Ave. St. Clair Shores, MI 48081 on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 3:00pm-9:00pm.

A funeral service will be held at Bagnasco and Calcaterra Funeral Home at 25800 Harper Ave. St. Clair Shores, MI 48081 on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11:00am.


Monica will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
