Michelle Marie DesRochers

Michelle Marie DesRochers, age 52, passed away on Tuesday July 7th, 2020 following a difficult and enduring battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Michelle was born July 3rd, 1968 in Detroit to parents Wayne and Patricia Elgin. She grew up in Hamtramck where she went to St. Ladislaus School and would accompany her late grandmother, Louise (Barney) to Polish mass.

Michelle also attended Bishop Foley High School in Madison Heights. She enjoyed rock concerts, socializing and getting into mischief. She played basketball, softball and was the first girl to play on an all -boy’s baseball team, The Padres in Hamtramck. Michelle was impressionable, headstrong and stubborn but had a heart of gold. These were the qualities that made Her into the woman and mother that she was.

Michelle was always there to help a friend in need. She loved all animals including pets (Riley, Shadow, Lucky and Midnight). Her favorite snacks were Pepsi, nutty buddy bars and Oreos. (Eating only the cream filling which would drive her daughters crazy). As an adult she liked playing Bingo, riding motorcycles, online games with friends and watching crime shows like Law & Order and CSI. Michelle enjoyed the simple things like scratch off lotto tickets and gas station vanilla cappuccinos. She loved her daughters, pets and tried so hard to live a normal life despite her disability.

Michelle is survived by Daughters Samantha and Danielle DesRochers, former Husband Alan (Rachel) DesRochers, Mother Patricia and Father Wayne (Karen) Elgin, Sister Kimberly (Scott) Manor, Nephew’s Logan, Cole and Niece Sydney. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. She was pre-deceased by Grandparents Tony and Helen Elgin and Carl and Louise Dobrzycki.

A private memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate Her life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Michelle’s honor to the national MS society or wishes of the family will be appreciated.
