Mary Carolyn (nee Davis) Cummins was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and co-worker. She left this world on April 29, 2022 at the age of 86.
She was born, August 24, 1935 to Andrew and Pearl Davis. She had three sisters, Shelby, Glenna (preceded in death) and Shirley; the last two of which were born on her fifth birthday.
After graduating from Jellico High School, she attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky for her degree in Medical Technology.
She grew up with her soul mate, Charles Cecil Cummins, and married January 1, 1960. Together they had three children: Linda, Charles Andrew “Andy” and Brian.
Her family always knew who was calling based on the requested name. Work friends was Mary Carol where as all others were Carolyn.
Carolyn made friends everywhere and remained in contact for years. Her Christmas card list was large (sending and receiving) and contained individuals from all areas she left a mark.
Carolyn loved to bowl and participated for more than 50 years. However, when it came to sports her greatest love was baseball and she was a hardcore Detroit Tigers fan.
She loved being in “Take Pounds off Sensibly” (T.O.P.S.) and was able to reach her goal and keep the pounds off for more than 20 years.
Carolyn loved her church and was a devoted member for more than 50 years. She participated in various activities over the years from V. B. S. to leading the ‘Sunshine Girls’ Sunday School class.
Mary Carol retired from St John’s (formerly Holy Cross) Hospital after 40 years of service. She loved all the friends she made during her time there.
Above all these activities she valued family and loved her children and her seven grandchildren: Jeremy Payne; Samantha Payne; Cody Cummins, Jessica Cummins, Danielle Cummins, Dustin Cummins and Drew Cummins.
