Tribute

Terenzi, Marino J., age 94, passed away August 22, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Doris. Loving father of Rozann (the late Charles) Marinelli, David (Penny) Terenzi and Michael (Heidi) Terenzi. Dear grandfather of Amanda (Nick) Cavacini, Danielle (Marco) Improta, Anthony Terenzi, Stacey (Jeff) Kator, Michael (Kate) Terenzi and Kimberly (Josh) Pomante. Proud great grandfather of 8. Dearest brother of Armando, Natalie Zerilli and Rico. Marino is loved and missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Marino was born in San Marino Italy in 1926, at six months old they immigrated to the United States. He was a decorated World War II Army veteran receiving multiple medals including a Bronze Star. While in the army, he was an avid softball player pitching for his division’s team. At age 22, Marino married Doris, and had three children. For over 60 years, he worked as a Master Ceramic Tile Setter. Marino and his family resided in Saint Clair Shores for over 50 years. Over that time, he watched his family grow from three children to six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He loved to bowl until the age of 93. He continued to play softball into his mid-80’s playing on teams with his two sons and two grandsons, putting three generations of Terenzi’s on the field at one time. He started golfing at age 58, fell in love with the game, and enjoyed the annual trips with his friends up north. Marino loved being with family and friends, enjoying the annual family vacation in Caseville for the past 56 years including this year. He looked forward to weekly family dinners at each of his children’s home. He loved attending his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events. Marino always had a kind word for everyone despite being a man of few words. His famous words were “I love you back “. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Marino was a kind and gentle man who cherished his family. His legacy will live on through the great impressions he left on everyone he met.

Visitation Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Scripture Service at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 East 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Instate Monday, August 31, 2020 at 9:30 am until the time of Mass 10:00 am at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 48115 Schoenherr Road in Shelby Township. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.

Memorial contributions are appreciated by the family to the St. Jude Children's Foundation.

Due to the current health conditions facial masks must be worn with limited amount of people to attend visitation and funeral service. Proper social distancing will be required.
