Loretta White, age 85, passed away on June 8, 2022. Daughter of the late Bill and Georgia (nee Counts) Williams. Adored wife of the late Philip Richard White. Cherished mother of Steven (Linda) White, Donna (Greg) Pontone, Diane (Joe) Odoerfer, Sharon (David) Wolak, Richard (Jennifer) White. Beloved grandmother of Daniel, Jaclyn (Phil), Amanda, Joshua, Christopher (Sarah), Andrew (Michelle), Joseph (Makenzie), Alex (Samantha), Eliana, Nora, and Nathaniel. Treasured great grandmother of nine. Loving sister of Marega (Dale) DeLizio, and the late Bill (Neva) Williams, and Carolyn Williams.
Loretta was born in Virginia and moved north to Detroit with her family when she was five. At sixteen she started working for The Bell Telephone Company. As a teenager, she met the love of her life, Philip, at church and they married in 1955. They went on to have five wonderful children together. Loretta is fondly remembered for her selflessness when it came to raising her children, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to attend their recitals, plays, games, graduations, and other events, as well as to be there for every birthday. Her family has many happy memories of their big annual family picnics, and they are continuing the family picnic tradition. Other fond memories include happy Christmas days spent wearing pajamas all day and the whole family playing games together. She had several charities that were near and dear to her heart, and she was sure to support them faithfully. Two of these charities were The Paralyzed Veterans of America and Voice of the Martyrs. For many years, Loretta enjoyed bowling, both on a ladies’ league and a couples’ league with her husband. She also enjoyed her position as secretary for her children’s bowling leagues as well. Throughout her adult life, she enjoyed a good game of scrabble and doing crossword puzzles — it was hard to find a word she couldn’t spell
