Gary A. Sanderson

December 13, 1951 ~ July 6, 2020 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Sanderson, Gary A. July 6, 2020 age 68. Beloved husband of Roseann. Dear Father of Daniel and Patrick. Dear Brother of Thomas, Stephen (Laura) and Nancy (Thomas) Kasper. Loving son of the late Thomas and Anna. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law Anthony (Peggy) Prantera and the late Peter (Carole, Janice, Delores and Charlotte) and Joe “Bob” (Carol) Prantera.

Gary had a lifelong love of sports starting with little league and later caddying at the Lochmoor Country Club - the original Caddyshack. He played baseball and football for Wish Egan Heilman Athletic Club. He also coached several teams and was on the board of directors for that organization. After a few years working as a journeyman carpenter, he got his “dream job” at Harper Sports Shop where he worked for 30 years selling sporting goods and taking care of uniform and equipment orders for numerous local organizations, schools, and teams in the area. After Harper Sports closed, he went on to work at Burke’s Sport Haven, hoping to retire to “The Summer of Gary.” He had begun updating his golf clubs and ensembles which are now sadly left unused.

He loved listening to music and was a diehard fan of The Beatles. He was also an avid fan of all sports from baseball and hockey to football and motorsports. Most of all, he loved his family especially his sons and an incalculable amount of extended family and friends. He enjoyed a delicious meal and sharing a good laugh with the people around him with an occasional visit to Dairy Queen thrown in. He had so many lifelong friends and acquaintances that will miss him dearly. Goodbye Gary, aka Jumbo, Jerry, Howard (and there were many more.) Our hearts are broken. Rest in peace.
