Frances Pauline Castano

Frances P. Castano of Eastpointe, passed away September 19, 2022 at the age of 86. She was born August 26, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Paul Coleman and Josephine (Coleman) Hale. She was raised on Detroit’s Eastside and graduated from Dominican Catholic High School. Fran was married to Alfredo Castano Jr. on September 14, 1957, at St. Jude’s Church in Detroit. They were married for 53 years, until Al’s passing in 2010.

Still adventurous in her 80s, she attended Garth Brooks’ February 2020 concert at Ford Field and greatly enjoyed every minute of it. She soaked in every bit of her once-in-a-lifetime cruise into the Caribbean with her family. Ever the life of the party, Fran was able to make every room she was in just little bit more fun. She was a big Red Wings and Tigers fan as well, often rooting for them in her own kind of way. Fran loved the music of Mario Lanza, Il Volo, and Garth Brooks. Fran also enjoyed her time as a Monday Cards Club member at St. Margaret’s of Scotland in St. Clair Shores.

Fran is survived by her four children, Alfredo III, Bruce (Linda), Denise (Kevin), and Michelle (David). She was a very proud Grandma to her 5 beloved grandsons - Nicholas, Zachary, Andrew, Alex, and Connor. And very recently, a Great Grandma to Finnegan. 

A memorial service will be held on September 27th at Toledo Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Sylvania, Ohio in Fran’s honor.
