Ardella Borri

Borri, Ardella, age 93, September 20, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Dear mother of Janet (Carl) Tasios, Nancy (Paul) Sinutko, Joe (Maria) and the late Douglas. Loving grandmother of Carl (Patty), John (Dawn), Lisa (Brad), Gino, Marina, Julia and Ava. Proud great grandmother of Lily, Autumn, Isabella, John and Joseph. Cherished sister of Dolores, the late Dorothy and the late Albert.

When recently asked what made her the happiest in her 93+ years, Ardella replied, “Having my babies and raising my family.” Like every other moment throughout her long life, she always seemed to put the happiness of others before her own. She met her husband Joe and as the story goes, after their first date he went home and told his mother, “I met the woman I’m going to marry.” Ardella told everyone that one of the things that made her fall in love with him is that Joe made her laugh. Wed in 1949, they shared nearly 65 years together before Joe passed away in 2014 at the age of 90. Her surviving children and grandchildren feel blessed to have had her in their lives for so many years, and take great comfort knowing she got to hold her recently born, 5th Great Grandchild, appropriately named Joseph. Ardella had a great passion for pinochle, cooking and movies. Even in her advanced age she’d answer trivia questions regarding films and shows from all eras. A fantastic cook, she was a generous soul who always had room at the table for neighborhood kids. She was a woman of great faith who went to mass every Sunday and prayed the rosary. When Ardella and Joe lost their oldest son, Douglas in 1972, it was her strength and faith that helped her already tight family to grow even closer. She taught us not to sweat the small stuff and imparted a calming influence with her comforting words and actions. On more than one occasion it was Ardella who assured her family that whatever rough patch they were going through would surely come to pass. A shining light to all of us, we will miss her every one of our remaining days and love her eternally.


Instate Thursday, September 23 at 11:30am until the time of a Funeral Mass 12:00pm at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake Street in St. Clair Shores. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Capuchins or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
