Tribute

Andrea Amalfitano was born in Ponza, Italy on April 15, 1929 to parents Carmine and Maria Giuseppa (Josephine) Amalfitano.
He immigrated to the United States and resided in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania where he graduated from high school.
He Served in the US Army during the Korean war and was stationed in Germany.
He Married Immacolata “Tina” Iodice, in 1955 and moved to Detroit where he eventually opened Andrea’s Pizzeria on Harper Avenue in St. Clair Shores.  Afterwards he worked as a chef in several restaurants in the Detroit and suburban areas.
His passions were boats and food.  He especially loved to provide supervision when others in the family were cooking. He enjoyed driving along the lakeshore and dreamed of sailing.  He also enjoyed recounting his adventures as a youth growing up in Italy, and had many opinions on politics and the events of the day.
He was preceded in death by his son Carmine Andrea Amalfitano, Parents and Step-Sister Antonietta
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Tina originally from Ponza, Italy, sons Andrea (Julie) Amalfitano of East Lansing, Michigan and Joseph (Patricia) Amalfitano of Traverse City, Michigan, and a sister Elena Vitiello of New York.
He has six grandchildren Stephanie, Alex, Abby, Grace, Kathryn and Angela.
Private family services have taken place.
