Renee Dorthea Hornick

Renee Dorthea Hornick, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 23, 2024, at the age of 52. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and vibrant memories that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Throughout her life, she embodied compassion and warmth, touching the lives of all who crossed her path. As a mother, she was devoted to her children, Mitchell (Makayla) Bassett and Kristine Bassett, nurturing them with unwavering love and support. Though she mourned the loss of her son Trent Redstrom, her heart overflowed with love for her dear granddaughter, Willow-Jane Cora Bassett, whom she adored beyond measure.

In addition to her role as a loving mother and grandmother, Renee was a cherished sister to JJ Hornick, Steve Bottorff, Charlie Bottorff, and Tim Bottorff. Her presence brought light to family gatherings, and she was loved dearly by her nieces and nephews.

Renee's impact extended far beyond her immediate family, as she embraced her children's friends as her own and was known affectionately as "mom" to many. Her genuine nature and easygoing demeanor earned her the title of "the coolest person I ever met" in the hearts of those who knew her.

Throughout her life, Renee cultivated lifelong friendships, none more cherished than her bond with Helen Weber, her dear friend since childhood, and her longtime companion, James Bassett, who stood by her side through thick and thin.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Renee will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, at Real Life Christian Church, located at 66090 Van Dyke, Washington, MI 48095.
